I bought this on a whim because I got birthday money and wasn’t afraid to use it. And I post about it because I think this is the first BPAL vanilla scent I’ve tried that doesn’t turn rank and sickly on my skin. I’m really glad I got this, although I’m not certain I’m going to wear it often.
I’m rereading the Otherland books again. They’re still very good books, but I wish Tad Williams didn’t use such obvious deus ex machinas in his books. It sort of undercuts the story to know that what’s going to happen at the end involves about 50 pages of intense exposition. And also, I really really dislike Paul Jonas on a second reading. He’s as close as Williams comes to a stu character. And one of the book’s villains, Johnny Dread? just makes me laugh. A lot. He does some scary shit, but there are a lot of other characters put into those books for the purpose of being scary, and Dread just sort of makes me want to roll my eyes.
