In lieu of content

Posted by Shannon C. on January 7th, 2008 filed in linky goodness

I have no content for you today, because I lack motivation to do much more than contemplate the idea that I should do something productive. I meant to immerse myself in Meljean Brook’s Demon Angel which will require lengthy squeeful posts later, but mostly I’ve been blogsurfing.

  • Just a reminder, today is Man love Monday The link contains awesome book recs and hot men for people who ppreciate some eye candy.

  • In more serious news, the Smart Bitches have uncovered some serious cutting and pasting done by romance author Cassie Edwards. You can find links to the original posts from the summary at Dear Author. I’d link to the posts themselves from here, but the SBTB site has been kind of wonky for me today. I feel awful for the people whose works Ms. Edwards copied and pasted from, but I have to admit that what I really love about these posts every time they come up is that everyone has his or her unique way to spell the word “plaigiarism.”
  • One of my favorite author bloggers, December Quinn has a thought-provoking post about sex in American culture. I mostly agree with her, although a lack of sleep makes it difficult for me to formulate a more cogent response.
  • Last but not least, completely off-topic, my mom sent me a link to a blog written by her neighbor. I’ve been reading the archives, and I just want to say that I wish I could be half as funny and passionate as Amy is.

Man Love Monday, could I BE any more insane????

Anyway: Can’t wait to read your Meljean post. And then? On to Demon Moon, yes? OOOOHHHH!!

Poor Sybil is having so much trouble with her blog, and I haven’t actually had time to go over to da bitches website. But I did take a peek and I was all, what the hell is all this Cassie Edward’s crap? Thanks for the illumination.

    :)

I’m not convinced about the CE stuff. Taken out of context a lot of things could be interpreted as plagarism or copying or any other number of things. Without having read anything by CE (or the author she supposedly stole her words from) I can’t fairly (IMO) form an opinion one way or the other. I am glad to hear her publisher is looking into it, however.

I can’t wait to see the Meljean post either. I’m in love with her writing and stories. Demon Moon is my favorite so far, but that might change with Demon Night (which I’m about halfway through).

That was an extremely interesting article December Quinn wrote. Something to think about.

PS. I just found your blog. I had no idea it was here..I thought you were on blogger..silly me. :)

    Lisabea,

I know. Poor Sybil. I can’t even imagine the headache she must be having right now.

    Holly,
Hi! Thanks for stopping by. Actually I was on LJ, but signed up for a google account, and now I just mostly post as anonymous so I can link to my actual blog. I also agree that I can’t form a very useful opinion about the CE stuff. Those paraphrases look pretty identical to me, but the posts have degenerated into a lot of shrieking and hand-wringing and hyperbole and I’m left boggling at the train-wreck.

But yay Meljean! I’m so glad I came late to the series as I have two other books to read after this. I love Demon Angel but Demon Moon definitely looks like it’s even more awesome.

Also, I have been thinking of emailing you for weeks now to fangirl your blog. I think it’s interesting that we both approach books very differently, (I need a strong heroine, you need a good hero).
