Ebook Week: Interview with LB Gregg

When I started blogging over here, one of the people whose blogs I read religiously was Lisabea. I got in touch with her via email because I totally wanted her to exchange links with me. She’s an absolute sweetheart, and so when her first book came out, under the name LB Gregg, I had to buy it. Sadly, and to my intense shame, I have not yet read it. But you can! LB is giving away a copy of her February M/M romance release, Gobsmacked!. Here is the blurb:

No more Mr. Nice Guy. Mild mannered Mark Meehan’s good judgment flies out the window when he finds his lover banging another man. Things go from bad to worse as Mark’s crazy revenge scheme uncovers shocking secrets–sending him straight into the arms of hunky lawman and old friend, Tony Gervase, a man of limited patience and secrets of his own.

You can read an excerpt here.

Please welcome LB Gregg!

How long have you been epublished?

Since Feb 6th. So six weeks, sister. I’m brand spanking new. Aspen Mountain Press has picked up the series, as well as ManLoveRomance Press for the print release.

What made you decide to go the route of epublishing?

M/M isn’t exactly what Harlequin is looking to publish. Pity, really… I love shopping on line, paper or ebooks, and the instant gratification to be found with ebooks cannot be undervalued. I want my book, and I want it right now! ::click::

What do you use to read your ebooks?

I’m SO embarrassed. I can’t remember how to put ebooks on my ebookwise (unless they’re from fictionwise) and then I lost my power supply (although I recently found it) and..ok my laptop. ::cringe:: I do like my e reader though and, honestly, I bought a purse big enough to hold it.

Where do you see the epublishing industry headed in the future?

It’s a wide, wild open world. I think the price of ereaders and kindles needs to come down so the common man (or regular gal like myself) can afford one. I think as the technology gets easier to use and the price becomes right, ebooks are the way to go. I only buy paperbacks of the books I truly want forever. Like my own book: Smart Ass:Close Quarters. (Yes. That’s what we call a shameless plug.)

Who are some of your favorite epublished writers?

Josh Lanyon, JL Langley, Samantha Kane. Josh is more literary m/m mystery, JL is about as fun, romantic and smexy smexy as it gets, and Samantha writes m/f/m, which isn’t actually my fav, but she’s terrific! May I recommend At Loves Command? Oh. I did already.

***

I really need to read some Josh Lanyon. It is sad that I still have not.

Thanks for stopping by, LB!

    Howdy, LB. :)

I read books on my laptop too. Also on my office PC. ONE day I will have a good reader. Until then, it’s either a computer screen or my Palm z22 with its 1.5″x1.5″ screen. O_O

Enjoyed getting to know you Lisabea. I recently added Gobsmacked to my ereader, and can’t wait to start it.

Your office PC? Like manly man lovin’ in the office? You’re so cheeky! I heart that!

You should save all your pennies in a jar marked ManPron. Then you can buy an ereader.

  4. Blodeuedd says:

I just got a Josh L book but haven’t read it yet, really must get to it after this, and if I found Gobsmacked too now :)

To have a ebook reader, how sweet that would be, but I will survive with my pc now

  5. lisabea says:

Cathy M~Yay! Hope you enjoy it.

  6. lisabea says:

Blodeuedd~Which Lanyon? Oh they’re all good, why am I asking that???

I like my ebookwise because it’s the perfect size and I can take notes on the screen. Now…if I could only remember how to use it.

  7. katiebabs says:

I must be the only one in the known universe wihtout a Kindle or Ereader. I read all my ebooks on my computer.
Much love LB< as always :D

  8. carolyn jean says:

Ooh, great interview! Fun. KB, you read all your ebooks on a computer???

  9. Awww, lb. Feeling the love. Congrats on getting the series picked up! That’s great. I’m reading “The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks” right now. I’m off to download a book about Captain Cook’s exploration of the Pacific to my iTouch for a book I’m working on. It’ll be my first Kindle download with the new app. iTouch=Love

  10. Anesthezea says:

Yay for LB! I loved Gobsmacked and look forward to reading more from you!

  11. Renee says:

OK, it’s good to know I’m not the only ebook reader without an actual ebook reader device. I read mostly on my trusty MacBook, and actually read Gobsmacked on my teeny tiny Palm Centro. And yes, the eye twitches I had were not just due to the hot man-lovin’, but also that 2″ Palm screen.

  12. Renee says:

Ooh, btw, forgot to say, Gobsmacked was such a fun read! Can’t wait for Happy Endings.

  13. Marg says:

I haven’t read many ebooks because I don’t really like reading them on my computer. One day I will get an ereader and then be in ebook heaven!

  14. amy lane says:

eeeee!!! The premise alone sounds promising! Would love to read! (Congrats on the new book!)

  15. I’m planning on getting Smart Ass: Close Quarters in print – but I wouldn’t mind an ebook copy as well!

I started off reading ebooks on my computer (our library system has an elibrary full of stuff to ‘check out’ and read, then return). I realized about a year into the reading that I could download ereader programs to my PDA – and now here I am reading ebooks on my Palm Tungsten.

I really want to get something like the Sony ereader, but I can’t afford one right now… good luck on figureing out the ebookwise reader LB! Practice makes permanent: the more you use it, the more you’ll remember :)

  16. Amber Green says:

jar marked ManPron. Then you can buy an ereader.

    I read this as
Then you can buy an erecter.

  17. Hiya, LB! I’m so proud of you! It is such great news that your series has been picked up by the publisher.

I have only read a few ebooks since I don’t have an ereader. I love the feel of a book in my hands, yet the thought of “green” reading is appealing, too. Add in the fact that in one small device I could carry around a whole selection of reading materials… nice.

  18. LesleyW says:

Katiebabs – nope you’re not. lol I’m still reading e-books on my computer too. It would be nice to get some form of e-reader but I just can’t afford one.

  19. lisabea says:

KB~So do you read all those on your laptop during your commute? How in the world do you keep up?

Samantha~Captain Cook? ZOMG what are you writing and how did I miss hearing about this?

Anesthezea~Thank you so much. *g* Always nice to hear that.

Renee~That is the TINIEST screen! Word on the eye twitch.

Marg~If you get the right one, it’ll be liberating. It’s wonderful to carry around 50 books at a time (or what ever the kindle carries) and, while waiting for kids to finish practice, you can sit on the sidelines reading your pick of books.

  20. lisabea says:

Amy~Hi, and thanks. It’s a quick little pea shooter with lots of action and…it’s smexy. =)

Elisa~Smart Ass should be coming out very soon. Amber and I will have something up on our various websites and blogs when the date is firm. And yes: practice makes perfect!

Amber~It’s like a can of manpron.

Shannon (my chicago friend)~Thanks. It’s weird and exciting to suddenly have a book out. “suddenly” HA!

I think the green element is a big seller for a lot of people. For me, most of the books I want to read are only available in ebook, so I’m locked in.

Leslie~I know! So expensive. My ebookwise was a Christmas present from G. And I think it was about 120 bucks.

  21. Shannon C. says:

Oh man. The green thing is huge for me, too. Like, I should be more environmentally cautious than I am most of the time, but I do like that I can read whatever I want *and* I’m not killing trees.

And it must be a universal fact of life that technology is expensive. At least until it all becomes commonplace and better stuff comes out. It’s frustrating but what can you do?

  22. Raonaid Luckwell says:

I use to read ebooks on my pc. Then the hubs was looking at Sony’s ereader (the first one). No joke, but he said “We need one of these for you and I to share.” Pshaw. He had dominated it in the beginning. Then I got even. Sadly, my sons did something to it. Not really sure but the screen is all messed up which is a very big inconvenience because it was very easy to read my ebooks. We are gonna have to get another sometime because I miss the convenience of it and not too thrilled about having to read them on the pc again
